Limited contact up to 1000°C (e.g. handling hot refractory bricks). The duration of insulation depends on the temperature of the object. If excess heat enters the muffle, a sudden movement of the arm will shake the mitten from the hand. The stainless steel chain mail has a heat dissipating effect and allows a very high mechanical resistance while preserving a certain flexibility. The mitten is ambidextrous/reversible to allow the use of both sides: by changing hand, the top becomes the palm (and vice-versa); thus, lifetime of the mittens is doubled.
